The 'Lost' Stu Davis, W4ZC/K2OBJ Collection in 2003: Tom Perera, W1TP

The extraordinary collection of telegraph instruments, paper, and teaching apparatus that Stu Davis (W4ZC / K2OBJ) put together and displayed as the National Telegraph Museum disappeared after his death. We now know that he passed his collection along to another collector who prefers to remain anonymous. He has, however, graciously allowed me to photograph some of the more exceptional items and include them in this AWA Telegraph Anthology. They include many magnificent instruments and thousands of pages of historic documents. Probably the most significant of these documents is Samuel F. B. Morse's hand written notebook that shows the many different wiring configurations that were tried out on the original Baltimore to Washington Telegraph Line. The experimental circuits consisted of two insulated wires and the earth ground. The diagrams show various experimental configurations of keys, registers, and batteries. These diagrams are reproduced in this CD for the first time.

Stu Davis, W4ZC / K2OBJ
